Spring Clean 2019 Launch

Every year we announce the launch of OxClean’s Spring Clean to remind everyone that over the coming weekend hundreds of good-hearted Oxford people turn out to collect litter and clean up the City. It gives us a chance to acknowledge the support of other organisations.

This year’s launch took place outside the Co-op in Summertown. The location celebrates the support from Midcounties Co-op for our Spotless Oxford campaign. We’re delighted to report that 15 Co-op stores in Oxford and the surrounding area have joined Spotless, with more expected to follow. The stores all undertake to do their best to keep the pavements and gutters in front of their shops litter-free. We thank Co-op Manager Richard Clements for leading this great project, which reflects Midcounties Co-op’s commitment to its role in the community.

Special mention, as always, goes to Oxford City’s Direct Services team; they are the ones who give up time at the weekend to collect the hundreds of rubbish sacks filled by our volunteers, and dispose of them safely. The Oxford Mail and Times are our publicity partners, making sure Spring Clean is in the papers and encouraging as many people as possible to sign up.

This year we were delighted to welcome Oxwash as partners. You may have seen their cycles around the city, collecting and delivering laundry in an environmentally friendly way. Oxwash are supporting Spring Clean by ferrying the hi-vis vests and litter-pickers we lend to volunteer groups to and from the places they need to be.

Spring Clean 2019 is happening over the weekend 1 – 3 March. If you haven’t registered yet there’s still time!
