Sixteen days to Spring Clean

Time is ticking to register your interest for OxClean’s ‘Leap into Spring Clean 2020’.

  • The event, now in its 13th year, takes place from Friday 28th – Sunday 1st March 2020
  • 90 groups and 60 individuals are already signed up to take to the streets over the weekend.

OxClean’s big Spring Clean takes place in just 16 days but there’s still time for more groups and communities to register to take part and show support.

OxClean is an Oxford Civic Society initiative dedicated to keeping Oxford clean and tidy all year round – ensuring that Oxford continues to be a beautiful city, and is a welcoming and pleasant place for people to live, work and visit.

Natasha Robinson from OxClean said:  “We live in the best city in the world and we need your support to keep it free from litter.  This is an important event and we want more people to take action to clean up Oxford.

“Taking part in an event like this not only means you are doing your bit for nature and the environment, it also gives you the chance to build community relations, have fun and even burn some calories!”

The Spring Clean event currently has 90 groups and 60 individuals registered to take part all over Oxford.

One person who will be volunteering over the weekend is Anneliese Dodds, the Labour and Co-Operative MP for Oxford East.  She said:  ”The annual Spring Clean makes such a massive difference to Oxford and is a testament to the hard work of hundreds of volunteers. I only wish that the city could remain as clean all year round!

“We need to do all we can against litter given the awful impact it has on wildlife as well as its aesthetic impact. Once again, big thanks to those involved with the Spring Clean, and to groups like OxClean that do litter picks all year round”
