Help us make Oxford a more pleasant place to live, work and relax – and raise awareness of the litter problem. This year, our tenth, we are working in association with Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean.
In 2016, 80+ Groups from across the city took to the streets, public spaces and grotspots and cleaned up a large quantity of litter. As a result of their hard work, over 6 tonnes of litter plus a lot of flytip was removed from the streets and parks of Oxford. The sight of so many people out litter picking again raised awareness that a cleaner and tidier city is a better place to be! Achievements , Photo Gallery.
See fact sheet.
Spring Clean 2017 takes place on
Friday 3 , Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 March 2017
Other dates by arrangement!
Information and details of how to register will be available in the autumn.
For further information please see the links on the right.
If you are a member of an existing community group – or you are forming a new group to take part, please register as early as possible to help us organise the complex logistics of the event.
As Spring Clean weekend approaches we can't take any new group registrations. Thanks to all the groups who have registered, and here's hoping for good weather!
If you are an individual who would like to take part, please register and we will put you in touch with a community group in your neighbourhood – or one tackling a grot spot.
Sadly, there are a number of grot spots blighting our city. Report any you know of and we will add them to the list (within the city, only).
Visit Google Map – Grot Spots which pinpoints grot spots already known to us. Groups who would like to tackle one can then choose from the list.
Litter Pickers & Equipment
We hold a stock of nearly 500 litter pickers and hi vis vests which are available on loan to Community Groups taking part. We distribute sacks supplied by the City Council – and arrange for the collection of filled sacks after your litter pick.
In February we will ask you to order your litter-picking equipment and arrange collection of filled sacks.
